Mexico, with the population of about 108 millions (2005), is the greatest Spanish-speaking nation of the world. It consists mostly of Mestizos, Indigenes and Creoles.

Mexican culture is characterized by the Indio-cultures, Spanish, European and North American elements. The capital of Mexico is one of the most significant cultural centers of Latin America that offers its visitors a wide diversity of cultural activities at a global level. Quite a number of sites - mostly pre-Columbian but also colonial Spanish buildings - were declared to be world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

The majority of Mexicans
(about 87%) are Roman Catholics. There is a strict division between the state and the Church since 1873.
